Goodbye, Gangnam!

This is my last email from Gangnam because we got transfer calls and I'm heading to 부천 (Bucheon) on Wednesday and Sister Hawkins is training! I'm not really sure where this last week went, but it was great.

Goodbye Gangnam church
Yesterday we finally combined Seocho and Gangnam and our new building is so nice! So we had a culture night on Saturday to open the building and Tina was able to come!! She loved it and just wants to come to church but we still have to figure out her whole work situation. About 20 minutes before she showed up though, a member came up and asked Sister Hawkins to come join the orchestra. With absolutely no notice. He even brought an extra violin just so she could. Which meant that we went on temporary exchanges so I could show Tina stuff and Sister Hawkins could practice. So we ended up talking about Baptisms for the dead. Perfect. Someday we're gonna teach her the Plan of Salvation... And Sister Hawkins did great!

Julia and Jenny our investigators
We also had a whole mission activity which is pretty rare so it was super fun! We got to see all our old companions and MTC district and it was just great.

Not a lot of stories this week but there should be some good ones next week from Bucheon!

"Thanks to Crocs I feel like an all-terrain vehicle"

My companion asked her mom for some Crocs because it's monsoon season. And she got 3 pairs. So she gave me one and in our Crocs, we power through any weather. Because it's been raining the last week or so and it's been pretty much a party.

What a week. This upcoming week we're combining wards so it's been a little bit crazy but it's great! We got to meet with Jenny and Julia and they still have so much English interest it's incredible. But we introduced the Book of Mormon and we get to talk about that . . . so I'm really excited because we're also teaching the Plan of Salvation-- two of my favorite things!

We had interviews this last week which meant we had no time to prepare for our lesson right after. So we ended up "planning" on the subway ride there. Aka our planning went, "Probably we should review Joseph Smith" "Yep. And talk about baptism." And that's when the gang of Jehovah's Witness grandmas started trying to proselyte to us. Classic. They gave us a pamphlet so I tried to trade pamphlets. But then they gave it back to me because they said they weren't gonna read it. Great.

Our lesson with Tina went pretty well though. We ended up talking about the Law of Chastity. Definitely not what we had planned but it was good because she had a lot of questions.

We also got a new investigator this week through a 5 minute lesson in the convenience store about the Book of Mormon. But she said she'll read it and told us to come back!

Yesterday was Stake Conference and my greenie ward is in our stake. And my companion has served in 2 other wards in our stake so it was like a happy reunion with everybody I know! I imagine that's just what heaven will be like--getting to see everyone we love again!

After a crazy busy week, we also got to sing in a baptism at Seocho yesterday which was so great! Their investigator was so excited to be baptized and she'll be confirmed next week at the first combined meeting. I'm so excited for her!

Anywho, love you all and the gospel is true! And for everybody! It answers all your questions you could ever have!

안녕하세요 여러분!!

안녕하세요 여러분!! (Hi everyone!!)

Our last 강남 (Gangnam) only Sacrament Meeting.
Next week is stake conference and then we become the Gangnam 1st Ward (combined with Seocho).

This week has been good! We were able to meet with Julia, Jenny, and Tina! Julia and Jenny are mostly English interest, but when we met with them, they had both practiced English and read the pamphlet we asked them to. They'd even started to underline and study it! We were actually able to have a really good discussion about the Fall which is usually one of the hardest things to teach.

Zone Conference
We also had zone conference which was super good and just gets me more pumped to do missionary work again! Our mission president is just the best and Sister Turner's nachos are great. And we finally met with Tina again after 6ish weeks! She still isn't able to come to church because she has a work meeting in the middle so we're praying that that'll change because she really wants to learn! We watching the Restoration movie with her since it had been so long and it was a good review. Joseph Smith really was a prophet and restored Christ's church again!

Other than that, we just did a whole lot of 전도 (proselyting)!

The church is true! 사랑해요! (I love you!)

기적들!! (Miracles!!)

This week we saw so many miracles! The Lord is preparing people in Gangnam! We were able to teach our investigator 진유림 (JinYooRim) and we got to talk a lot about God and prayer. She was able to remember an experience with prayer when she was little! God really does answer our prayers no matter our age.

We also got 4 new investigators last week!!!! While on exchanges, we got a call from the Elders that someone had called off the banner at the church and wanted to learn English right then. A lot of miracles had combined into us being at the subway station where we were so that we were able to get the the church in 15 minutes instead of the normal 45 minutes from our house. During those 15 minutes, she also invited her friend! So we were able to introduce the 30/30 program and set up 2 appointments!!

At the exact same time in 노량진(Noryangjin), Sister Hawkins got to teach someone that the STL's had found that actually lives in Gangnam so they simultaneously referred her over to us and her boyfriend came too! He was super interested in the Book of Mormon so we'll get to introduce that this week to them!

Our last miracle of the week was Tina! The Elders originally started teaching Tina last transfer, referred her over to us, we met her a couple of times, and she stopped answering. We were super disappointed because she had so much real intent and desire to know. On Saturday though, the Elders got a call from her that she had lost her phone and all her contacts and had somehow found the Elders phone number written down somewhere. So the Elders called us and we are now going to start meeting with her again!

It's been a great week and I know it's the Lord's work, not ours!

Have a great week! 사랑해요!
