New Investigators!

This week was incredibly busy but so, so good! We were blessed to start teaching two new investigators named KimNa and Mia.

Our companion picture for Kakao Talk
KimNa is actually from China but has lived in Korea for 14 years. She met some members in another mission and they referred her to us. We met her this week and taught her the Restoration and she liked it. We also were able to give her a church tour because she wanted to see the building before she attended! She came to church yesterday and really liked it! She really felt peace at the church. The members were so welcoming to her and have already invited her to meet with them this week so we're excited to see her continue to progress.

Our other investigator is named Mia and she's attended English class for about the past year. She actually found out about it through her best friend who just got baptized in another ward last year, the same ward my companion Sister Morgan just came from! We're doing the English program with her but are teaching her granddaughter English and her about our church. We think she has a lot of potential and even though she attends another church, she's come to some of our FHE and gospel classes we teach during the week.

This last week I've been thinking about unity a lot. Especially in the Book of Mormon, it doesn't say that people joined the church, were converted, or even were baptized. It says again and again that they were unified to the church. Like how God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are one in purpose, as we change our purpose to their purpose, we too are unified with them and also with all others that have His purpose as their purpose.

It's snowing!
We received transfer calls and Sister Morgan and I will be staying together, covering all three wards. We're excited for the challenge and all the miracles we're going to see.

Old Friends, New Friends

This has been a good week! I started off the week a little scared for a threesome but can now say that they are more fun than I originally thought. However, Sister Lee is transferring today so we're going to be a twosome for a week and then who knows what will happen? We were able to visit Amber again and she was so excited to see us.

Amber!
I was able to go on exchanges with Sister Oldroyd this week and it was super great. We were in the MTC for 3 weeks together and it's so fun to get together and do missionary work because we can both remember when we couldn't speak Korean and now we can get around. We got to teach a children's English class and that was the craziest game of red light green light I've ever played.

Our Threesome :)
We also met with the Relief Society President and get some more direction about how to help Sisters in the ward, especially the less actives. We've been trying to visit them, but it feels 100% more effective when we're able to really work with members and we're going to need a lot of member support, especially if we're going to be able to help each ward effectively.

The YSA ward originally planned a 전도 activity for yesterday and as part of it we made some new stickerboards. However, it ended up raining so we talked with them about how to use social media to share the gospel. Despite not being able to stickerboard with the YSA, we were able to use our stickerboards at a zone 전도 activity and they worked out well!

New Stickerboard
We had a hard time this week though because the other Sister's investigator that we picked up as we became a threesome texted us a few hours before her baptismal interview and told us she had just been admitted into the hospital for surgery on her appendix and had gone back to her hometown so she won't be able to get baptized for a bit. We're also going to refer her to the missionaries there and see if they can help her out since we can't. We're really sad, but we know she still wants to be baptized, we just might not be there.

3 Sisters and 3 Wards!

This week's been a little bit crazy and because of another missionary going home early because she was sick, we're becoming a threesome for this week and covering another ward.
We were able to see some miracles this week including but not limited to:
  • We started to clean out our phone contacts and had some people respond with interest!
  • We were able to have our transfer interview with President, which is always great!
  • A brother in our ward teaches a guitar class and because some sisters that aren't members have been coming, he's invited us to come and we're learning guitar now.
  • We went to visit some Less Actives the other day and only had enough time to visit one but she was home and we were able to talk to her and talk about her daughter, as well as get the daughter's phone numbers
  • We had stake conference, my third one at Anyang, so I got to see all the members I love!
  • 고유정s came to visit and we ate some delicious food!

My favorite miracle of the week was actually yesterday. We were stickerboarding and I gave a sticker to a college student and started talking with him. Our stickerboard was entirely about English so we were talking about that and he suddenly stopped and said "Lately I've actually had some interest about religion because I read the Bible and there are things in there that don't exist now and I just don't know why God would be different" So I began to explain to him about The Book of Mormon and he was so excited to receive it and read it. We were also able to exchange contact information and the Elders will be trying to meet with him this week. And like I told him, I do know that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever and He loves us. The way to know that is through The Book of Mormon and our living prophet.

The Return of the Crocs

This has been a good week! The weather's warmed up quite a bit so we've been able to switch from long coats and boots to short coats and crocs!

Shoutout to the Hawkins for the pink winter crocs!
This last week we started to clean out the contacts on our phone. The biggest way to get a new investigator here is to get their phone number and, as a result, we have hundreds of potential investigator numbers on our phone. Also, with the recent switch to smartphones, any form of organization got lost so we've been contacting people and seeing which numbers are no longer in use and finding some more people with interest.

Zone Conference
We were able to meet our investigator, 수현s. She's super cute and asked a lot of questions. We began to teach her the plan of salvation but veered into the restoration and even taught a bit of the law of chastity. She's got a lot of potential so this week when we meet her again, we're going to try and keep the lesson a little bit more focused because I think she can really progress.

Singing "I Know that My Redeemer Lives"
We also had zone conference which was super fun and we were able to go stickerboarding as a zone. I also went on exchanges with Sister Peterson and it was a party! She's only been in Korea for 2 weeks so she didn't know a lot about her area so we decided to just ride some buses and talk to people. It was a little bit nerve wracking though because we were right next to the mission boundary so we kept checking to make sure we didn't leave.

When it rains...and you're not prepared for it.
Sunday was super busy! We originally planned to start lessons with a potential investigator that's been attending church for a few weeks. But the person that randomly contacted us also showed up at church! It turns out she's actually a less active member that wants to come back to church so that's super great! And another former investigator came to church, which happened to be the same week one of the missionaries that taught her was visiting!

Zone Conference
This week I've especially been thinking about joy and choosing to be joyful. I've been reading lately in the scriptures about the downfall of the Nephites and it truly is in the small choices, especially choosing to find joy in every circumstance can change the outcome.
